3/29/2008 Weather Discussion: Snow showers with cool temperatures will continue through tomorrow. We should have a very similar day tomorrow as we have today. Long-term models show high pressure to our west slowly inching its way over the PNW. This will bring a dry but unseasonable cool week to the mountains. Forecast from Saturday 4pm Sunday 4am Precipitation .25 in. Water 3-5 in. Snow Temperatures Low 22 High 30 Winds 5-10 W Forecast for Sunday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 22 High 30 Winds 5-10 WNW TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Moderate snow showers should ramp back up tonight -could see a moderate shower or two around midnight. Showers should slowly taper off after 10pm tomorrow. Freezing levels: Day time temps will creep up to the low 30’s but the freezing levels will remain very low for this time of the year. Tomorrow we will see the same diurnal effect. Winds: A cool NW flow will continue through Monday -shouldn’t see much in the way of winds for a while. jdm

3/28/2008 Weather Discussion: Snow with unseasonable cool temps will to continue in the mountains until Sunday morning. Long-term models show spring making a go-at-it next week. High pressure developing off the coast should move over the PNW by early next week. This should provide a dry start for the end of our season. Forecast from Friday 4pm to Saturday 4am Precipitation .5 in. Water 4-6 in. Snow Temperatures Low 20 High 28 Winds 0-5 E Forecast for Saturday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 2-4 in. Snow Temperatures Low 20 High 30 Winds 0-10 WNW TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Steady light snow should continue through tomorrow. Snow will slowly change to showers and then taper off all together on Sunday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will remain below 2000’ through the weekend. We will probable see surface temps rise due to the normal daytime warming (diurnal warming for those weather/snow geeks) but for the most part temps should be low until early next week. Winds: East flow will hold steady until after 4pm tomorrow morning. A W then NW shift will occur through tomorrow. No big wind events showing up on the radar at this time. jdm

3/25/2008 Weather Discussion: Waves of snow with lower temperatures will move in this afternoon and continue through most of week. Long-term models show the northern jet stream continuing to produce unsettled weather for the PNW through the rest of the week. Forecast from Tuesday 4pm to Wednesday 4am Precipitation .25 -.5 in. Water 3-6 in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 32 Winds 0-5 SW Forecast for Wednesday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 30 Winds 5-10 W TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Snow is expected to develop through the day. A showery pattern will persist through most of the week. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will slowly drop through the night. Freezing levels could drop to 1000’ of lower by tomorrow night. Winds: Winds will shift to a westerly flow as the cold front passes through. This system seems to be pretty slow moving so winds should be relatively light through tomorrow. jdm

3/23/2008 Weather Discussion: Seems like winter is making a stand. A snowy windy night is in store for the Pass tonight. Monday will bring a brief dry period before the next system heads in for Tuesday evening. Long-term models show a cool northwest flow driving a series of winter storms into the Cascades through most of next week. Seems like January. Forecast from Sunday 4pm to Monday 4am Precipitation .5 - .75 in. Water 4-8 in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 30 Winds 10-20 W Gust 40 Forecast for Tuesday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 22 High 30 Winds 5-10 W tapering TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: A lull is expected this afternoon before a Puget Sound Convergence kicks in bringing a period of moderate snow to the Pass overnight. Snow should change to shower tomorrow morning and then eventually taper off through the day. Snow will return late Tuesday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will creep up to 3500’ today but should rapidly fall after 4pm. Freezing levels will drop to 1000’ or lower tomorrow morning. Freezing levels are expected to remain low through the middle of next week. Winds: Strong westerly winds will develop this afternoon as the leading edge of the cold front hits the mountains after 4pm. A Puget Sound Convergence will help produce steady westerly winds for most of the night. Winds should ease after 4am tomorrow morning. Could see gust over 40mph. jdm

3/22/2008 Weather Discussion: High clouds will move in today as the next system approaches the coast. Increasing snow tomorrow with drying and cooling on Monday. Long-term models show a brief dry period on Monday with another cool and wet system moving in for the middle of the week. The NW jet should continue to push unseasonal weather through the PNW for most of next week. Forecast from Saturday 4pm to Sunday 4am Precipitation Lt .10 in. Water trace in. Snow Temperatures Low 28 High 34 Winds 5-10 E Forecast for Sunday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .5 in. Water 4-6 in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 30 Winds 0-5 SW TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Snow should show up after 4am tomorrow morning. There are two waves of moisture associated with this system. The first will push through tomorrow morning with a midday break. Snow should re-develop after 4pm for another dose by Monday morning. Things should dry out on Monday. Freezing levels: Today’s surface temps should push above freezing with the aid of the sun. Freezing levels should then drop below pass level tonight and continue to drop below 2000’ by midnight tomorrow. Temps are expected to remain cool through most of next week. Winds: East flow will strengthen today as the cold front approaches. The westerly shift will slowly develop through the day tomorrow. Could see a strong wind event tomorrow night or early Monday morning as convergence conditions develop. jdm

3/20/2008 Weather Discussion: We can expect some snow and wind overnight with a drying trend setting in tomorrow. The weekend looks dry and warm with a cool wet system coming in late Sunday. Long-term models show the northern jet continuing its trek through the PNW through most of next week. A low pressure system in the Gulf of Alaska will spin winter storms into the PNW bringing a cold and wet week ahead. Should be great riding/skiing. Forecast from Thursday 4pm to Friday 4am Precipitation .5 in. Water 4-6 in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 32 Winds 5-15 SW gust 20+ Forecast for Friday 4am to 4pm Precipitation Lt .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 22 High 30 Winds 5-10 W tapering TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Mountain snow showers will persist through the day. Snow will intensify for a short period overnight. High pressure aloft will quickly build tomorrow ending the precipitation by noon. Snow totals could bump up a bit due to a possible convergence period early tomorrow morning. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will remain unseasonable low through the weekend. Freezing levels are expected to dip to 2000’ by early tomorrow morning. Expecting a pretty warm day on Saturday with sun and freezing levels reaching 4000’. Cooling for Sunday and beyond. Winds: A cold front will bring a period of high westerly winds tomorrow morning between midnight and 7am. Winds should taper quickly in conjunction with the building high pressure. Cool temps for this time of year will keep all of the moisture in the form of snow here at the Pass. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 32 Winds 0-5 w Forecast for Thursday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .10 in. Water 1-2 in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 30 Winds 0-5 w TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Intermittent snow showers will persist overnight. A weak upper level ridge will decrease the chance of snow for tomorrow. A more organized snow event is shaping up for tomorrow night and possible Friday. Freezing levels: An over all cool temperature regime will keep the freezing levels below pass level through the weekend. Freezing levels could dip as low as 2000’ by Friday. As usual some sun breaks could push the surface temps above freezing. Winds: These systems seem to be slow moving therefore, not expecting much wind. Water 3-5 in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 30 Winds 0-5 W Forecast for Friday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 34 Winds 0-5W TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Today’s band of moisture is expected to taper of after 7pm tonight with another band arriving around 4am. We should then just have light snow showers tomorrow and Saturday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels expected to hover near 3000’ through Saturday. Some sun breaks could push up surface temps. Long-term models show a short lived high pressure ridge producing a dry day on Wednesday with another system tracking up from the south on Thursday. Forecast from Monday 4pm to Tuesday 4am Precipitation .5 in. Water 3-5 in. Snow Temperatures Low 30 High 45 Winds 5-10 SW Forecast for Tuesday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .5 -.75 in. Water 4-8 in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 30 Winds 10-20 W TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: The first band of moisture ETA is after 4pm today. This could start out as rain but should turn to snow around midnight. Snow is expected to slowly intensify over night with a better chance of accumulation after 4am. Snow will slowly taper off by 4am Wednesday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels could bump up to 6K today before they start to fall. Freezing levels should be below pass level by midnight. They are expected to continue to fall through tomorrow reaching 2000’ by evening. The rest of the week should remain cool. Winds: Gusty SW frontal winds will accompany tonight cold front.
