Word of the week - CYCLOGENESIS
I thought it interesting that the National Weather Service used this term in the their discussion.
cyclogenesis is just the the intensification or development of a cyclone.
A cyclone is a large-scale, atmospheric wind-and-pressure system characterized by low pressure at its center and by circular wind motion, counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere - or in other words a low pressure system.

24HR SNAP SHOT starting at NOON today
Water - .5-.75 Snow - 1-3
Freezing Levels - rising to +6500'
Winds 10-20 gust to 40mph
General Discussion: The high pressure that we have enjoyed for the last few days is weakening and drifting south. Convergence flow could enhance orographics which will likely increase precipitation amounts. Rain will change to showers tomorrow afternoon.
Freezing levels: Freezing levels will rise to 6500’ or higher by 7pm tonight. Freezing levels will remain above pass level through the night. Freezing levels will then fall tomorrow as the cold front approaches.
Winds: Strong westerly flow will accompany the front today. Sustain 40mph winds with higher gust will be possible.
