Stevens Pass Mountain Weather

The approaching cold front is expected to make land fall sometime tonight. Expect enhance precipitation as the front enters the mountains.  Once the front move east of the crest, freezing levels will begin to fall to around 3500'.   Freezing levels on Friday could even dip below 3000' for a short period. Temperatures will return to seasonal norms for the next 6-10 days.

The precipitation will turn showery tomorrow and slowly dissipate on Friday.    The weekend appears to be dryer but the atmosphere will remain unstable due to another approaching system.

April 24, 2012

This Week in Weather

A fairly good sized low pressure system will dig south from the Gulf of Alaska this week bringing cooler air and some precip. There will be some snow possible on Thursday (4000' and higher) but nothing to get your powder juices flowing - wet and heavy. High pressure builds in over the weekend for more warm spring weather. The Wenatchee crested 10K today so surf up on the river.

STEVENS PASS MOUNTAIN WEATHER

4/4/2012 Weather

General Discussion: Weak pressure gradients along with cool NW flow will keep the threat of light snow showers with periods of sun in the forecast for the remainder of the week.

Long-term: A low pressure system is expected to develop off the western coast over the weekend. This is expected to stay off shore, so moisture is not much of a concern for the mountains. What this will likely do is draw up warm air from the interior south, which will allow temperatures rise. We could see the warmest temperature of the year by early next week. Unstable convection could also bring thunderstorms into the discussion.
