Time and Day: 1100 Saturday
The Snapshot: Snow showers will persist for the rest
of the weekend. Next week will start out
dry with some sun.
The Science: The atmosphere will remain unstable under strengthening
westerly flow for the rest of the weekend.
The low pressure system tracking south along the coast will create
easterly/offshore flow on Monday. This will
push moisture away from the PNW at the start of the new week.
4-7day Long Range: The first half of next week will be mostly dry with sunshine. The rain/snow game returns at the end of next
week.

Time and Day: 0900 Friday
The Snapshot: Snow turning to rain today. Mixed rain and snow can be anticipated
through the weekend.
The Science: A strong warm front with a trailing cold front
will pass over the mountains today. Freezing
levels will rise to above 5000’ in a few hours. The trailing cold front is expected to move through
later this evening which will turn the precipitation to showers and lower
freezing levels to 4000’. Mixed rain and
snow showers will persist in the mountains through the weekend. Cooler air is expected on Sunday with snow
showers continuing.
4-7day Long Range: There will be a break in the precipitation
Monday through Wednesday with more of the snow/rain mix during the second half
of the week.

The Snapshot: Today will be mostly dry with light scattered
rain/snow showers likely; snow changing to rain tomorrow.
The Science: A strong warm front is expected to reach the
mountains early tomorrow morning. This will bring rising freezing levels and
moderate to heavy snow changing to rain through the day tomorrow.
4-7day Long Range: Mixed snow and rain will continues
through the weekend. Next week will
start out dry with some clearing. More wet
and warm systems are positioned to hit the PNW on Wednesday/Thursday.

MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST
Time and Day: 1200 Wednesday
The Snapshot: The snow is starting to corn up nicely today.
Another round of rain and snow will enter the
mountains this evening with light scattered showers and sun breaks tomorrow. It seems like we will be stuck with this on-off, snow- rain pattern for the next 4-7 days.
The Science: The low pressure system parked off the coast
will continue to swing bands of precipitation into the Cascades through the
weekend. Freezing levels will bounce
between 4000’ and 5000’ through this series of weak fronts. Therefore, rain and snow can be expected to
continue into the coming weekend.
4-7day Long Range: Starting Friday, the weather will trend wetter as more moisture gets
entrained from the SW. Next week will start
out dry with more systems moving through on Tuesday.

Light precipitation should begin to fall
after closing today. Mixed rain and

Time and Day: Tuesday 1000
The Snapshot: Periods of light rain and snow will be on the weather menu for the next few days.
The Science: The weakening low pressure system
spinning off the NW coast will produce light snow and rain showers in the mountains
for remainder of the week – a fairly typical spring pattern. Weak
high pressure ridges will form between the bands for dry periods and possible sun
breaks.
4-7day Long Range: This pattern will likely continue into theweekend.

The Snapshot: Today will be dry and warm. A series of wet systems will begin to batter the
PNW starting tomorrow. Next week will be
stormy with rain and snow.
The Science: A strong low pressure system creeping towards the western coast will begin sending a series of systems through the PNW tomorrow.
Freezing levels will bounce between 4000’ and 5000’ as these fronts come
and go. Sound familiar? Therefore,
the general layout for the week will be rain tomorrow, snow on Wednesday and Thursday,
then back to rain on Friday.
4-7day Long Range: Long range models show this pattern
continuing into the weekend. If this
holds true (which is unlikely) snow can be expected on Saturday.

MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST
Time and Day: 0900 Saturday
The Snapshot: Nice alpenglow on the mountains this morning,
don’t-ya think? Clouds will move in later
today with a chance of some light snow tonight.
The sun returns tomorrow for a few days of spring like weather.
The Science: A weak system tracking across the
northern portion of the state will drop some light snow on Stevens Pass tonight. The high pressure ridge reforms tomorrow for
a few days of dry and warmer weather.
4-7day Long Range: A large low pressure system developing offshore will begin to send wet
systems into the region starting on Tuesday.
The rest of the week will be active with a chance of rain and snow
throughout.

Light snow will begin to fall late

Time and Day: 0900 Friday
The Snapshot: Sunny and cool today. Cloudy with a chance of some light snow can
be anticipated tomorrow afternoon/evening.
The Science: High pressure has produced a beautiful morning
here in the Cascade Mountains. The
pressure ridge is expected to flatten and shift south tomorrow. This will open the door for a weak disturbance
to pass through the region late tomorrow afternoon. Warm and dry southerly flow moves in on Sunday.
4-7day Long Range: Next week will start out dry and warm with rain and or snow during the
middle of the week.
