The Snapshot: Warm and sunny weather will continue for the
remainder of the week.
The Science: The blocking high pressure system centered offshore will drift east today bringing even
warmer weather to the mountains. Temperatures remained above freezing this
morning and will peak near 500f today.
The Long Range: Long
range models are now keeping the PNW dry and mostly clear continue through the
weekend, with a chance of rain early next week.

The Snapshot: Clear skies with warm springtime
temperature will grace the PNW for the remainder of the week. Light rain for the weekend.
The Science: The atmosphere over the most of the state has stabilized
under a rising barometer. Satellite imagery
shows clear skies over the entire state.
Early morning temperatures have
dropped below freezing this morning but will quickly climb into the upper 40’s
as the sun begins to take effect. The
air mass will warm even further tomorrow with early morning temperatures
struggling to drop below freezing.
The Long Range: Clear and warm weather will persist for the
rest of the week. Long-range models have
the high pressure breaking down and drifting east on Saturday. This may
allow some rain to enter the scene over the weekend.

The Snapshot: Scattered snow showers this morning with dry,
sunny and warmer weather developing tomorrow.
The Science: This
morning’s satellite imagery has some light snow
showers popping up in the mountains with clear
skies to the west. Skies will begin to
clear this afternoon as high-pressure building over region starts to take
effect.
The Long Range: High pressure will strengthen as
the week progresses with dry, warm, and clear weather expected for the next 5-7
days.

The Snapshot: Just
another late March powder day. Windy
with moderate to heavy snow showers today.
Snow ends tomorrow with dry and clear weather developing. Enjoy the snow while it lasts.
The Science: A cold front passed east of the crest around 2 am this morning with the good westerly flow just now starting to
strengthen. The Puget Sound Convergence
Zone is expected to set up this morning keeping the snow showers moving through
Stevens Pass for most of the day. Ridge
top winds will also strengthen but shouldn’t be a show-stopper. The
precipitation will taper off tomorrow as high pressure begins to build.
The Long Range: The PNW will begin to dry (melt)
out next week. Daytime temperatures could reach
into the 50’s with abundant sunshine by the middle of the week. Seattle temperatures could touch 70 by the end
of the week.

The Snapshot: High clouds, warm and dry today, mixed rain and snow
developing tonight changing to snow tomorrow.
A good dose of Spring arrives next
week.
The Science: The high cloud deck this morning will clear for some
nice sunshine later today. A cold front
with NW flow in tow will move in late
tonight for another round of snow showers for Stevens Pass. The precipitation will likely start out as
light rain tonight as it mixes with the lingering warm air mass. Temperatures will fall in the wake of the
front with cool westerly flow providing snow showers for most of the day
tomorrow. Gusty ridge top winds will
also accompany the front tomorrow morning,
but they should be fairly short lived.
The Long Range: Snow showers will linger into Monday with a drying trend beginning
Monday afternoon. A strong high-pressure system will bring warm, dry and
clear weather to the PNW starting on Tuesday and will likely last through the upcoming weekend.

The Snapshot:
POWDER DAY! Snow showers will taper off today with partial
clearing this afternoon. Tomorrow will
be mostly dry and warm with some sunshine.
More snow is expected early Sunday morning.
The Science: Stevens Pass broke 400” of snow fall for the
season this morning – Thank you, El Nino.
An upper-level
high-pressure ridge along with the
convergence zone shifting south will
bring and end to the snow today.
Tomorrow will start out clear with increasing clouds through the
day. A cold front will push through late
tomorrow night with more snow expected on Sunday.
The Long Range: All of next week will be dry,
sunny and warm as a strong high system parks itself over the PNW.

and Saturday will be mostly dry. More snow expected Saturday night into
Sunday. Spring
gets serious next week.
The Science: The Puget Sound Convergence Zone is in full effect
with moderate to heavy snow showers expected through the day. Snow tapers off with some clearing early
tomorrow morning as an upper-level ridge passes through.
Tomorrow and most of Saturday will
be dry and partly cloudy.
The Long Range: A
similar snow event as today will arrive Saturday night for some additional snow
heading into Sunday. Next week will be
mostly dry and warmer as a strong high-pressure
cell builds over the PNW.

The Snapshot: Light snow showers with sun breaks today, increasing mixed rain and
snow tonight with snow increasing tomorrow. Potential powder day on Friday.
The Science: A
low-pressure system developing in the
Gulf of Alaska will drive a warm front followed by a cold front into the PNW
starting tonight. Freezing levels will
spike up (+-5000’) in the wake of the warm front tonight but, cool westerly flow will fill in behind the cold
front tomorrow. Therefore, expected mixed rain and snow
tonight with snow intensifying tomorrow.
The Puget Sound Convergence Zone is expected to develop which will bring
periods of heavy snow and wind to Stevens
Pass tomorrow.
At the moment, storm
totals by Friday noon exceed 1.5” of water and or 10-15” of snow; those values will
be refined later today.
The Long Range: Saturday will be mostly dry with
sun breaks with more snow on Sunday.

The Snapshot: Snow showers today and tomorrow with some clearing.
The Science: 3” of snow fell overnight.
Snow showers will continue today under
cool westerly flow. A weak upper-level ridge will allow some clear periods
to form through most of tomorrow. A
strong frontal system will move in tomorrow night with moderate mixed rain and
snow changing to snow. Snow will
continue under steady NW flow to finish out the week. I guess winter isn’t done quite yet.
The Long Range: High
pressure is expected to build the NW coast over the weekend. However, models diverge on how this will affect
the region.

The Snapshot: Light mixed snow and rain today and
tomorrow.
The Science: A low-pressure trough approaching the PNW today
will bring cool SW flow with mixed rain and snow showers today and tomorrow. Most
of the moisture will be confined to the
western slopes of the Cascades with light showers east of the crest. Cool air aloft will bring freezing levels
down to around 4500’ with a general cooling trend as the week progresses.
The Long Range: This typical early spring
weather pattern of spotty mixed rain and snow showers and periods of broken
clouds will continue through the week.
