Short Term: Today will be the start of a series of systems tracking through the PNW. We will run the whole gamut with snow and rain as the freezing levels rise and fall.

Long Term: We can expect an active weekend as this pattern continues. Models diverge in opinion on what will happen after Sunday.

TRENDS AND TIMING
Precipitation: The first front will arrive this afternoon bringing snow. Snow will continue through the night. Snow will slowly turn to rain during the day tomorrow as temperatures begin to rise after 7 am.

Freezing levels: Freezing levels will stay below pass level through the night. Freezing levels will then rise to pass level sometime after 7 am tomorrow. Freezing levels will continue to rise through the day reaching 6000’. East flow will hopefully keep the rain at bay until noon or so. Freezing levels will begin to drop to near pass level by Friday morning.

Winds: East flow will hopefully hold in there until noon tomorrow. SW flow will then override. No huge wind events are expected with these systems. Although gusty short-lived frontal winds will be possible. JDM
