3/24/2010 Weather

Short term: Enjoy the nice spring weather today because that is about to change. Moisture moving up from the south and cool air from the NW will clash tomorrow bringing rain tomorrow then snow early Friday morning.

Long-term: We will be heading into a fairly active weather pattern for the next week or so. The weekend looks dry with another system timing out to arrive early next week.

TRENDS AND TIMING
Precipitation: The precipitation is expected to arrive in the mountain around noon tomorrow, this will start out as rain and then slowly turn to snow over night. The most active snowy period will be after midnight. I will wait until tomorrow to a get a better handle on Friday morning snow totals.

Freezing levels: 6000-8000’. Freezing levels will remain well above pass level until tomorrow afternoon. Freezing temperatures are expected to fall below pass level in the wake of the cold front after 4pm tomorrow. Seattle might get record high temps today.

Winds: East flow will loosen its grip during the next 24hours. The cold front overrides with strong westerlies tomorrow afternoon. JDM
