Mountain Weather Forecast -Time:1130

It is gratifying to see the Pacific NW snow machine all cranked up. The steady snow will decrease to intermittent showers this afternoon with temperatures on the rise. Another round of mixed rain and snow begins early tomorrow morning.

Long-term: A high pressure ridge passes over on Wednesday for a short dry period. The jet stream shifts to a NW flow pattern on Thursday, this should produce cooler temperatures and more snow for the weekend.

Trend and Timing:
The snow will let up this afternoon for just intermittent showers for the remainder of the day. The next round of precipitation will reach us early tomorrow morning with mixed rain and snow likely through the day.

Low: 30 High: 36
Freezing level: 4000’ 5000’

Trend and Timing:
Freezing levels will rise to near 4500’ this afternoon. Surface temperatures will not fall below freezing through the night. A temperature spike pushing freezing levels to 5000’ is expected tomorrow. This should be short lived with temperatures falling tomorrow night.

Trend and Timing:
Strong southerly flow aloft with weak easterly flow at the surface should remain the pattern through the night. Winds shift westerly tomorrow.
