MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0900 Saturday
 
The Snapshot: 20” of new snow with a few more inches expected today, a great start.  More snowy, blustery weather, with mixed rain at times will continue through tomorrow.  


The Science: The jet stream has pulled a nice stream of moisture into the PNW. The convergence zone is expected to gradually shift north later today which will direct the main bulk of moisture north toward Glacier Peak.  The jet stream is shifting to a SW orientation during the next 24hrs, so expect rising freezing levels tomorrow.    


4-7day Long Range: A strong warm front enters the region on Monday with moderate to heavy rain expected below 5000’.  High pressure develops on Wednesday with dry and cooler weather expected to end the week.

Water by 4am = .25-.5 Snow equivalent = 2-4
 
Total inches of water by noon tomorrow = .5
Total inches of snow by noon tomorrow = 3-5
 
Trend and Timing:
 
Snow showers will continue to fall but appear to become less frequent as the convergence zone shifts north.  Light mixed rain and snow showers can be anticipated below 4500' tomorrow.
