MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST


Time and Day: 0900 Monday

 
The Snapshot:  What a storm.  23" of new snow at the top of the Daisy Chair since 4pm last night.   The snow will taper off today.  Cold with partly cloudy conditions will develop today with sunshine tomorrow. 


The Science:   It was touch and go last night as the cold front stalled just west of the crest.  A cold arctic front will usher in frigid air from the north tonight.  Stable, clear and cold conditions settle over the region as high pressure strengthens throughout the week.  


4-7day Long Range:  Long range models agree on the dry and cold weather lasting through the week and possibly extending into the weekend.

Water by 4am = >.25  Snow equivalent = 1-3
 
Total inches of water by noon tomorrow = <.25
Total inches of snow by noon tomorrow = 1-3
 
Trends and Timing:
 
Hopefully a few more inches of snow will be squeeze out before the convergence zone shifts south and dissipates.  A drying trend will begin this afternoon with clear conditions tonight and tomorrow.

Temperatures will continue to fall as cold air arrives.  Single digit lows can be anticipated during the early morning hours with day time highs touching 20f.

Trend and Timing:
 
Winds will taper off this morning and shift N than E tomorrow. Strong off shore flow (East flow) will develop tomorrow and last through Wednesday.   Easterly gust above 20 will be possible along the upper ridges.
