MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 1000 Monday


The Snapshot: Temperatures are on the rise today with light snow developing tonight. Snow will taper off tomorrow afternoon with continued rising temperatures.  Snow on Thursday and Friday.  


The Science:    The high pressure that dominated the previous weather pattern is flattening and drifting south. This has opened the door for a warmer WNW flow pattern to develop. A weak systems will pass through tonight with snow and rising temperatures .   A weak high pressure ridge will move over the mountains on Wednesday for a generally dry and partly cloudy day. 


4-7day Long Range:  The weather interest of the week will occur on Thursday.  It is looking promising for some measurable snow on Thursday/Friday with another frontal system moving through over the weekend.  Both of these systems lead with warm fronts, which can cause spikes in freezing levels. 

 

 

 
Precipitation:
 
Water by 4am = <.25  Snow equivalent = 1-3
 
Total inches of water by noon tomorrow = .25
Total inches of snow by noon tomorrow = 2-4
 
Trends and Timing:
 
Light snow will begin to fall late tonight and continue through tomorrow.   The precipitation will taper off tomorrow afternoon.

Trend and Timing:
 
Freeing levels will reach 3000’ tomorrow and continue rising to 4000’ on Wednesday.

Trend and Timing:
 
Southerly flow this morning with WNW flow aloft later today. Westerly winds will dominate the flow pattern through most of the week.
