0930 Tuesday

The Snapshot:  Snow, with periods of mixed rain expected today and tomorrow.   Snow tomorrow night.

The Science: A weak surface low pressure system approaching the coast will spin bands of moisture into the mountains for the next few days.  Warm air aloft fighting with coldeasterly flow will make for an interesting mix of precipitation.   A more organized cold front arrives tomorrow night for a better chance of measurable snow for Thursday morning.

4-7day Long Range:  A steady stream of moisture will keep pumping through the region well into the weekend.  Freezing levels will continue to fluctuate between 3500’ and 4500’ through early Friday.

Things get mighty interesting on Friday as a sub-tropical system with high freezing levels and heavy precipitation begins to take shape.
