MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0830 Monday

The Snapshot: Dry today with thickening clouds.  Light rain changing to snow tomorrow.  A very active weather pattern is expected for the next 7 days.


The Science:  The NW storm cycle that we have waiting for is finally taking shape.  The northern jet stream will track directly over the PNW this week bringing along several systems.   Freezing levels will rise and fall around the 4500’ foot levels as these systems come and go, so expect periods of rain and snow for most of the week.


4-7day Long Range:  These storms increase in strength and moisture content as the week progresses.  Stay tuned, we might finally start growing the snow pack.

Water by 4am =.10   Snow equivalent = 0-1
 
24hr total inches of water ending at noon tomorrow = .25
24hr total inches of snow ending at noon tomorrow = 1-3
 
Trends and Timing:
Light rain and or snow will begin early tomorrow morning and intensify through the day.

Freezing level:   +- 4500’

Freezing levels will rise to around the 4500’ today and stay at that level through tomorrow.

Trend and Timing:
East flow at the surface with southerly flow aloft will all shift westerly by early tomorrow morning.
