MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST


Time and Day: 0900 Thursday


The Snapshot: The snow will change to scattered showers this morning before the next wave of moisture hits later today.  Winds will be troublesome through tomorrow.


The Science:  A warm front followed cold front will repeat last night’s storm only with lower precipitation amounts.   A much stronger frontal system hits late tomorrow night with a period of heavy rain Friday night changing to snow on Saturday.  A good amount of snow is expected through Sunday.

 
4-7day Long Range: High pressure returns early next week dry and warm weather expected.  


Precipitation:
Water by 4am = .5   Snow equivalent = 6-8

Trend and Timing:
Light snow showers will continue today. Rain snow mix changing to snow starts again this afternoon and continuing through the night.

Trends and Timing
Temperatures will rise to near freezing today below 4500’.  A cold front will drop freezing levels back below 4000’ tonight and then bounce back up to near 5000’ late tomorrow night.

Trend and Timing:
Winds will continue to be strong through the night with sustained speeds of +40 – 50mph likely.
