MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 1000 Monday

The Snapshot: The epic Presidents Day Storm.   Snow will continue today with the next front arriving tomorrow morning with more snow.

 
The Science:  An unstable atmosphere with consistent westerly flow will keep the snow falling through the day.   Two more storms are lined up to hit the PNW during the next 3 days.  The first will hit during tomorrow and then the next on late Wednesday night or early Thursday.  The general flow pattern shifts NW with a cooler overall temperature regime to end the week.  

 
4-7day Long Range:  Things quiet down on Thursday as high pressure builds over the region.


Precipitation:
Water by 4am =.5 -.75 Snow = 4-8
24hr total inches of water ending at noon tomorrow = 1 -1.5
24hr total inches of snow ending at noon tomorrow =  10-15
 
Trend and Timing:
Light snow will continue to fall through the night.  The next front will increasing snowfall after 7am tomorrow morning.  Heavy snow can be expected through Wednesday morning.
 
 
Base Temp and Freezing levels: 
Low: 28  High: 32
Freezing level: 3000’ - 4000’
 
Trends and Timing
Freezing levels will hold steady around 4000’ through the night.    Freezing levels spike to 4500’ with the passing of the next front tomorrow morning.

Ridge Top: 5-10 WSW
 
Trend and Timing:
Westerly winds will be light through early tomorrow morning.  Gusty frontal winds will accompany tomorrow front.
