MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

0630 Tuesday:

The Snapshot: It’s nice to see a little of the white stuff.  Light snow showers are expected for the next three days with just an inch or two possible each day.  Snow on Friday/Saturday, rain on Sunday.

The Science:  A low-pressure system makings its way through Oregon will spin bands of moisture up along the foothills of the Cascades for the next few days.  Cool air trapped in the eastern basin will continue to influence freezing levels at the Pass.   A frontal system will make its way on shore late Thursday night.  This will bring some measurable precipitation on Friday with the potential of 4-6” of snow on the ground by Saturday morning.

4-7day Long Range: A strong SW oriented frontal system is expected to hit Saturday night.  As of now, heavy snow with a potential of a foot or more is possible Saturday night, freezing levels rise to +-7k on Sunday with heavy rain.  The precipitation changes back to snow on Monday and tapers off during the first half of the week.  Models still disagree on the timing and specific details; so stay tuned a usual.
