MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

0600 Sunday:

The Snapshot:  Snow today turning to rain tonight.   Rain tapers off early Tuesday morning.  Wind advisories will kick in tomorrow morning as well.

The Science:  A slow moving warm front will bring heavy precipitation to the Cascade Mountains for the next 36-48hrs.  Heavy snow is expected for most of the day, snow changes to rain tonight.   Heavy rain and wind will greet the day tomorrow; it all comes to an end Tuesday morning.   

Long Range:  High-pressure lifts north on Tuesday leaving a warm and dry airmass over the region for most of the new week.

Today’s 24hr Water = 2   Snow = 8-12”

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = 2  Snow = 0

Trend and Timing:
Snow intensifies today then changes to rain after 7pm.  Rain ends during the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Freezing level: 3000’    6000’

Trends and Timing:
Temperatures will hover near freezing with the aid of east flow through late this afternoon. Freezing levels rise to 6000’ by midnight tonight.

Trend and Timing:
East flow will shift westerly with the passing of the front tonight.  A high wind advisory with gust 50+ will be in effect from 7pm tonight through noon tomorrow.
