MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

0700 Saturday:

The Snapshot: Snow today, dry tonight, rain and snow tomorrow through Tuesday, warming toward the end of the week.  GO HAWKS.

The Science:  Precipitation amounts are being downgraded as these storms appear to be weakening as they approach.  For this reason, snow amounts will be less than previously suggested.  Light snow has begun to fall and will continue through most of the day.  A weak high-pressure ridge will cut of the moisture tonight.  The next warmer system arrives tomorrow afternoon with light rain in the base area and mixed rain and snow on the upper mountain.  

Long Range: Wednesday and most of Thursday will be dry with partial clearing.  Heavy rain is expected on Friday.    

Precipitation ending at 4am:

Today’s 24hr Water = .5   Snow = 3-6 

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = .25-5.  Snow = 2-5

Trend and Timing:
Snow changing to mix rain and snow then tapering off around midnight.   Light rain and snow begins early afternoon tomorrow.


24hr temperature ending at 4am tomorrow: 
Low: 22   High: 32
Freezing level: 3000’   4500’

Trends and Timing:
Freezing levels are expected to rise to 4500’ today, fall early tomorrow morning and then rise again to 5000’ tomorrow night.

 
24hr Winds (mph) ending at 4am tomorrow:
Base: 0-5 E shifting W
Ridge Top: 0-10 E shifting W 5-15  

Trend and Timing:
East flow will shift westerly this afternoon.  Gusty westerly winds can be anticipated as these fronts move through.
