MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0630 Wednesday

The Snapshot:  Snow ending today, snow changing to rain tomorrow, heavy rain on Friday, snow showers for the weekend.  Winds will be pesky this morning and ease up tonight.

The Science:  As the cold front move east of the mountains this morning, snow will begin to diminish with +-3” of additional snow possible.  Light snow showers will continue through this afternoon.  A warm front, pulling a large fetch of water and warmer air will enter the region tomorrow night.  Heavy rain with freezing levels +6500’ is expected to start Thursday night and continue through early Saturday morning.   Water equivilant totals are impressive with this storm.  The Cascades could receive over 5” of rain by Saturday morning.

Long Range:  A cold air mass fills in behind the rain on Saturday. This will likely change the rain to intermittent snow showers for the remaining of the weekend.  The snow rain game, with more systems, continues through the middle of next week.

Today’s 24hr Water =  .5”  Snow = 3-5 

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = 1”  Snow =  2-4

Trend and Timing:
Snow ends around noon today.  Tomorrow will be mostly dry with snow changing to rain beginning tomorrow night.

Low: 26  High: 32
Freezing level: 4000’  5000.'

Trends and Timing:
Temperatures will hover near freezing (320 ) through tomorrow morning. Freezing levels are expected raise above 5000’ by midnight tomorrow night.

Base: 5-10 W gusty
Ridge Top:  10-20 W gusty

Trend and Timing:
Gusty westerly winds will continue through the day and eases up tonight.  High wind advisories will kick back in tomorrow night and Friday.
