MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0600 Friday

The Snapshot:  7” of snow fell yesterday with 2” over night.  Clear periods with light snow showers today, dry tonight, winter storm watch tomorrow.

The Science:  The low-pressure system that brought the snow yesterday is drifting southeast.  The center of the low is expected to track along the Washington-Oregon border containing most of the energy south of Stevens Pass.  Therefore, expect a few remnant show showers with sun break today.

The next strong Pacific Frontal System will arrive mid-day tomorrow with steady snow falling through early Monday morning. Storm totals from Saturday noon through Monday 4 am currently total 14”- 20” of snow.   

Long Range:  The snow ends Monday morning with more storms beginning to take shape for the second half of next week.  


Precipitation ending at 4 am:
Today’s 24hr Water = .10   Snow = 1-2”  

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = +- .75    Snow  6-10” 

Trend and Timing:
Light snow showers with sun breaks today.  Snow arrives around noon tomorrow and continues through Sunday.   Another +-.75 (6-10”) can be expected on Sunday.

Low: 24  High:  30
Freezing level: +-3000.'

Trends and Timing:
Freezing levels will be around 3500’ today.   Freezing levels will spike up to near 4000’ with the passing of tomorrows warm front.  Temperatures will them begin to fall under cooler NW flow.

Trend and Timing:
East flow will strengthen today.
