MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0630 Saturday

The Snapshot: Light snow showers with sun breaks today, snow tomorrow and Monday.  More winter storms next week.

The Science: This morning’s radar has bands of snow showers moving NE through the state.  A weak upper level ridge coupled with an unstable atmosphere will keep intermittent snow showers with breaks in the clouds today.

Clouds thicken tonight as the next system begins its approach.  This system is timing out to reach the Cascade Crest early tomorrow morning (4am ish).  East flow will briefly develop tonight then shift westerly with the passing of the front. This storm has a more westerly flow effect than the last, so expect the wind and The Puget Sound Convergence Zone to have some influence.  The snow will continue Monday pushed by yet another low pressure system.

Long Range:  The storms keep rolling in through the middle of next week with more significant snow.  There is a potential to have 2 or even 3 more feet of additional snow pack by Christmas day.

Precipitation ending at 4 am:
Today’s 24hr Water = .25-.5   Snow =  2-5

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = .75   Snow = 6-10

Trend and Timing:
Snow showers today.  Snow intensifies during the early morning hours.  Convergence conditions with good orographics could push snow totals up a few inches.

24hr temperature ending at 4 am tomorrow:
Low: 24 High: 26
Freezing level: 2500’-3000’

Trends and Timing:
Temperatures will hold fairly steady in the mid 20’s through tomorrow.

24hr Winds (mph) ending at 4 am tomorrow:
Base: 0-5 E
Ridge Top: 0-10 E shifting W

Trend and Timing:
