MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0600 Sunday

The Snapshot:  Snow this morning changing to showers later today.  Snow continues Tuesday and Wednesday, dry Christmas day.

The Science: A warm front followed by a cold front will bring a short shot of moderate snow this morning and then taper to intermittent showers in the wake of the cold front this afternoon.  A low-pressure system expected to track along the Washington-Oregon border tomorrow will spin bands of snow north through early Tuesday morning.

Long Range:  The snow continues into Wednesday.  The holiday will be partly clear and mostly dry as a high-pressure ridge passes over the State.  Another storm is taking shape to impact the region next weekend.

Today’s 24hr Water = + .5   Snow = 4-6  

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = .5-.75   Snow = 6-10

Trend and Timing:
Snow totals have been downgraded a bit for these next two systems.  


24hr temperature ending at 4 am tomorrow: 
Low: 20 High: 24
Freezing level: +-2500.'

Trends and Timing:
Freezing levels will bounce between 2000’ and 3000’ with the passing of the fronts.   No radical changes in temperatures expected.

 
24hr Winds (mph) ending at 4 am tomorrow:
Base: 0-5 E shifting
Ridge Top: 5-10 E shifting

Trend and Timing:
Winds will flip flop from east to west as these front come and go.
