MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0630  Monday

The Snapshot:  Increasing mixed rain and snow today with temperature inching up.  Heavy rain and high winds are still on the menu for tonight and tomorrow.   

The Science:  As luck would have it, the storm sagged just south of Stevens Pass and with it, the bulk of the warmer air.  Steven received 6” of new snow last night. Currently, there is very light snow showers with partially clear skies and temperatures at 320 .   

A warm front is expected to lift north today with increasing mixed rain and snow below 4500”.  Another, yet stronger, warm front will follow tonight with strong winds and higher freezing levels.  Heavy rain is expected through most of tomorrow with a cold front entering the scene late tomorrow night possible changing the rain back to snow on Wednesday – more on that later today. 

Long Range:  The active storms track will continue this week with freezing levels bouncing between 3500’ and 4500’starting Wednesday.  If luck remains with us, Stevens Pass could weather the rain event well and have an additional foot or more snow on the ground by the upcoming weekend.

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = 2”   Snow = 0

Trend and Timing:
Mixed snow and rain turning to rain tonight. Rain tomorrow.

Freezing level: 4500.' – 5500’

Trends and Timing:
Temperatures will slowly climb today with freezing level reaching +7000’ tomorrow.

Base:  5-10  ESE –shifting W
Ridge Top: 5-15 S shifting W   

Trend and Timing:
Strong westerly flow will kick in tonight with +50mph gust along the ridge tops likely.
