Time and Day: 0630 Tuesday
The Snapshot: Several storms are lined up to impact the PNW
for the next several days. Mixed rain
and snow tonight with partial clearing tomorrow. Snow Thursday night and Friday.
The Science: 3” of snow fell overnight, temperatures are
currently 310f on top and 220f
at the base, which indicates the
warmer air to the southwest is trying to override the cooler air to the
east. This temperature battle will
continue as the next, stronger, system makes its way toward the mountains later
today.
This morning radar has the
leading edge of an approaching warm front just hitting the South Puget Sound area
and creeping its way north east. Light mixed
rain and snow can be expected today with heavier precipitation tonight and
tomorrow. A weak cold front with an imbedded upper level
ridge will bring an end to the heavy precipitation tomorrow morning with light snow
showers and sun breaks.
The Long Range: Another
strong frontal system with potential heavy snow arrives late Thursday night and
yet another (warmer) system sometime during the weekend.

Today 24hr water = .75-1 snow = 2-5 lower mountain 4-10 upper
Tomorrow’s 24hr water = < .25 snow = 1-2
Trend and Timing:
Snow showers today ramping up to mixed
rain and snow tonight. Precipitation diminished
early tomorrow morning. Snow totals
will be dependent on where the freezing levels decide to land.
