MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700  Sunday

The Snapshot:  Another round of snow today with drying tonight and tomorrow.   Active weather will continue through the week.

The Science:  This morning’s radar had the leading edge of the next frontal system entering the South Puget Sound.  This system is similar to yesterday’s storm with triple point fronts swinging through the region during the next 6-10hrs.

The approaching warm front should begin to produce snow in a few hours.  The following cold front, with an embedded upper level ridge, will pass east of the mountains later today/tonight.  This will diminish the precipitation and produce some clearing – similar to last night.  There will be few remnant showers tomorrow morning with clear periods through the day.

The Long Range:   Another weak front enters the scene Monday night and then again on Tuesday for more light to moderate snow for Stevens Pass.  There is signs of higher freezing levels (+- 6500’) and moisture developing for the end of the week.

Precipitation Ending at 4am:

Today 24hr water = .5 -.75  snow = 4-7

Tomorrow’s 24hr water = <.25 snow = 1-2

Freezing level: +- 4000’

Trend and Timing:
