MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0630 Monday

The Snapshot: 2”of snow fell overnight with 8” in the last 24hrs.   A touch warmer today with light snow showers and sun breaks.  Light snow showers tonight and then again tomorrow night.    

The Science:  There is a break in the action this morning as an upper level ridge passes over the mountains.   A weak low pressure system tracking towards the southern edge of the state today will spin bands of light snow showers north toward Stevens Pass tonight.  Tomorrow will be repeat performance with the day being fairly dry and snow showers at night. 

The Long Range:  A stronger frontal system is gearing up to impact the PNW starting on Thursday for potential heavy snow.  It is still pretty far out to have confident in the details, so stay tunes as that system develops further.

Today 24hr water = <. 25 Snow = 1-3

Tomorrow’s 24hr water = .25-.5 snow = 2-5

Trend and Timing:
The light snow showers currently falling will diminish later this morning.  Today will be mostly dry with light snow showers moving through tonight.

Trend and Timing:   
Temperatures will rise above freezing today with the aid of some sun breaks.   Freezing levels are expected to fluctuate between 3000’ and 4000’ through Wednesday.

Ridge Top:  5-10 W shifting SE

Trend and Timing:
The gusty westerly winds this morning will slow and shift easterly today.   East flow strengthens tomorrow.
