MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700  Thursday

The Snapshot:  Mixed rain and snow today, rain turning to snow tomorrow night, heavy snow expected on Saturday, then back to rain on Sunday.  Sporty.

The Science:  Several fast moving frontal systems will move through the PNW during the next 3-5 days.  Waves of moisture with freezing levels bouncing above and below 4500’ will be the game through the weekend.   The winds will also be gusty as the fronts come and go.

The first warm front enters the mountains this afternoon with moderate rain showers; a cold front follows tomorrow afternoon changing the rain to snow late tomorrow night or early Saturday morning,  moderate to heavy snow is expected on Saturday with +8” possible. 

The Long Range:  Warm SW flow will push freezing levels above 5000’ on Sunday with rain showers persisting into Tuesday.
