MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700 Friday

The Snapshot:  4” of new snow fell overnight with snow continuing today.  The snow ends tomorrow with clearing, more snow on Sunday.

The Science:  A strong frontal system will push into the region today bringing moderate to heavy snow to Stevens Pass tonight.  Westerly flow along with a potential Puget Sound Convergence Zone will also bring windy conditions and lower freezing levels.  A ridge of high pressure passing between systems will dry up the moisture with some partial clearing tomorrow afternoon.   Another front arrives Sunday with more snow. 

The Long Range:  Snow showers linger into Monday with the rest of next trending dry and warmer under building high pressure. 

Precipitation Ending at 4am:

Today 24hr water = .75-1 Snow =  6-10

Tomorrow’s 24hr water = .25 snow = 2-4

Trend and Timing:
Light snow will fall today with an intense period between 4 pm and 10 pm tonight.   Convergence conditions are expected to form with moderate to heavy snow showers persisting into tomorrow morning.  Snow comes to and end by noon or so tomorrow.

Trend and Timing:   
Freezing levels will fall in the wake of the front tonight.

Ridge Top: 5-10 ESE shifting W

Trend and Timing:
East flow will shift westerly tonight with the passing of the front.  A high wind advisory will be in effect late tonight through the early morning hours.
