MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0730 Sunday

The Snapshot: Light snow showers today with a few sun break possible; snow to start the week with this parade of storms continuing well into the weekend.

The Science:  Temperatures have lowered, and the rain has turned to intermittent snow showers due to the cold front that passed a few hours ago.  There will be a break in the weather today as a weak upper-level high-pressure ridge drifts over the mountains.   A low-pressure cell developing along the southern Washington border will swing north tomorrow with measurable snow likely at Stevens Pass. Cool westerly flow aloft will provide favorable temperatures and winds for some nice snow accumulation tomorrow.

The Long Range: There will be another short dry spell Monday night and most of Tuesday with the snow vs. rain game arriving Tuesday night.  Storms with seasonally above average temperatures will continue to move into the PNW through the upcoming weekend.
