MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0730 Sunday

The Snapshot: Dry with increasing clouds today, rain, snow and wind tomorrow, powder day Tuesday, warm, dry and clear weather for the remainder of the week.

The Science:  A brief return to winter will occur tomorrow as a strong cold front with cool westerly flow moves in.  The precipitation will likely start out as light rain and then turn to snow as cooler air fills in behind the front during the day.   Strong winds and convergence zone development will enhance the snowfall tomorrow night with some good measurable snow on the ground Tuesday morning.

The Long Range:  Spring weather returns on Wednesday as high pressure rebuilds.   Warm, dry and clear weather will continue through the upcoming weekend.

Precipitation Ending at 4am:

Today 24hr water = .25”  Snow = 1-3”

Tomorrow’s 24hr water = 1”  snow = 8-12”

Trend and Timing:
The leading edge of the front is expected to hit the mountain after midnight tonight.  Snow showers will fall through the day with the precipitation increasing tomorrow night.

Freezing level:  7500’ – 4000.'

Trend and Timing:   
Freezing levels will fall to 4000’ in the wake of the front early tomorrow morning.  Temperatures will hover near or just below freezing through the day.

Ridge Top: 0-5 E shifting W strengthening

Trend and Timing:
Strong westerly winds will kick in tomorrow morning with gusts 30+ possible.
