MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700 Monday

The Snapshot:  Wind with mixed snow and rain turning to snow today.  Moderate snow showers tonight, dry with clearing for the remainder of the week.

The Science:  A cold front passed east of the Cascade Crest a few hours ago.  Cool unstable westerly flow has filled in behind the front which will drive convergence showers through Stevens Pass for the next 12-24hrs.   The moisture will end tomorrow afternoon with rising temperatures as high pressure rebuilds over the region.

The Long Range:  Beautiful spring weather returns tomorrow evening with the rest of the week trending dry, clear and warm.

Precipitation Ending at 4am:

Today 24hr water = +.75 Snow = 6-10

Tomorrow’s 24hr water = <.25  snow = 1-3

Trend and Timing:
The snow showers will persist into early tomorrow morning.  Convergence conditions could push snow totals up a few inches overnight.

Freezing levels will slowly fall to 3500’ tonight and then begin rise tomorrow.

Ridge top winds will be strong today with gust 30+ possible.
