Mountain Weather Forecast

Time and Day: 1030 Sunday

The Snapshot: Moderate convergence snow showers today and tonight, ending Monday morning. Colder and dry Monday.

The Science:  28” of snow in the past 2 ½ days, and it keeps coming. After a trough passed Saturday night, westerly flow has maintained light snow showers this morning. Another short wave trough will move through Western Washington during the day today, and continued upper level westerly flow will provide good orographic uplift for moderate snow during the day. A convergence zone currently looks to set up to the north of Stevens Pass this afternoon, and to the south (centered over Snoqualmie Pass) Monday morning. A slight shift in either of those events could lead to more precipitation by Monday morning.

The Long Range: An offshore upper low, and surface high pressure building from Southern BC, will support cold and dry air moving into the forecast area beginning Monday afternoon and likely lasting through the middle of the week.

Today 24hr water =.5-.75  Snow = 6-8”

Tomorrow’s 24hr water =.25  Snow = 2-4”
