Time and Day: 0700
Thursday
The Snapshot: The weather for the next few days will be dry,
cold and clear. Snow with regionally normal temperatures shows up for the weekend.
The Science: A few inches of snow fell overnight with
clear conditions developing over Stevens Pass.
The high pressure system
that has formed in the Gulf of Alaska will drift south into the PNW over the
next few days. This will produce cold dry
and clear weather for the region through Saturday. Today
will be the “warmest” day of the week before more cold air descends in from
Canada again tonight. If you are tired of the cold temperatures,
hang in there, freezing levels are expected to return to normal elevations (2500-4000’)
over the weekend.
The Long Range: Models have the high pressure moving out on Saturday. This will let the next
series of storms in the door with warmer and wet weather anticipated for the
start of the Holiday week(s).
