Time and Day: 0600
Tuesday
We will all miss you, Doug and Pete. RIP.
The Snapshot: Cold
with sun breaks
today and tomorrow, big storm in the works with heavy snow Thursday
through Saturday.
The Science: The expected cold, dry air mass is settling in
with temperatures in the teens and clearing skies this morning. A weak high pressure ridge will bring a few
days of cold and partially clear weather.
There will be a chance of a light snow shower passing through from time
to time, but no significant snow is expected until Thursday.
Things get very
interesting on Thursday. A large, strengthening low-pressure system developing in the central pacific is slowing tracking
toward the PNW. The cold air mass,
coupled with the high pressure setting over the eastern basin, will create
strong pressure and temperature gradients.
This can produce high easterly winds with gust 50+ possible. The storm is also pulling in warm moist air
from the south. This all means a
potential sporty high wind, heavy snow, temperature rising storm Thursday and
Friday.
The Long Range: Snow will continue into the weekend as the
flow turns WNW and another storm develops off the BC coast.
