MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700 Wednesday

The Snapshot:   A soggy day is in store for Stevens Pass.  The rain is expected to change to light intermittent snow showers tomorrow.   There are flood watches issued for some of the western rivers, so keep dry if you can.

The Science: Rain has begun to fall with just around an inch of water expected in the next 24rhs.  Warm, moist southerly flow with freezing levels peaking around 6500’ will continue into the early morning hours.  An inbound cold front will make it to the mountains early tomorrow morning; this will shift the precipitation to intermittent showers and drop the snow levels to around 3500’.  Snow showers will persist into Saturday.

The Long Range:  Another warm front pushes up from the south on Sunday/Monday for another game of snow vs rain to start the new week.

Tomorrow’s 24hr water = .25-.5 snow = 2-4

Trend and Timing:
Rain today shifting to intermittent showers overnight.

Trend and Timing:   
Freezing levels will begin to fall after midnight and dip below 4000’ after 7am tomorrow morning.

Trend and Timing:
Southerly flow along the ridge tops with Pass level easterlies will persist through the night and then shift SW through the day tomorrow.
