MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day:  0630 Thursday

The Snapshot:   Mixed rain and snow showers today, somewhat dry tomorrow with more mixed snow and rain showers for the weekend.  

The Science: It is currently raining in the base area and snowing on the upper mountain. The approaching cold front is expected to pass over the mountains in a few hours.  Once the front passes east of the crest, the freezing levels will fall to around 4000’ and the precipitation will taper down to intermittent snow showers.  A weak upper-level ridge will provide some clearing along with light passing snow showers tomorrow.  

The Long Range:  Snow showers with some mixed rain will be the weather game through the weekend.  Cooler with continued light snow showers expected early next week.   

Precipitation Ending at 4am:
Today 24hr water = .25 Snow = 1-3
Tomorrow’s 24hr water = .25 snow = 1-2

Trend and Timing:
The rain will lighten up this morning and shift to mixed snow through the day.

Low: 26    High: 32
Freezing level: +- 4000’

Trend and Timing:   
Freezing levels expected to fall just below 4000’ by noon or so today.

Base:  0-5 E shifting W
Ridge Top: 5-10 SSW shifting W

Trend and Timing:
The winds will shift westerly with passing of the cold front in a few hours.
