Mountain Weather Forecast

Time and Day: 0700 Friday

The Snapshot: Light snow flurries and clearing skies today. Sunny and cold Saturday.

The Science: Groundhog Day continues, but you know what? It’s not freezing rain. The cool trough feature that has been over Washington will slid south today, with light snow flurries possible throughout the day. Dry northerly flow will be behind it, with brief high pressure for Saturday. Saturday should be a cool, sunny day. A cold front will drop directly south over our area Saturday night and Sunday morning, bringing cooler temperatures and light to moderate snow through Sunday.

The Long Range: West/Northwest upper level flow develops Monday bringing cool temps and moderate snow. Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning currently looks dry, with the always just out of reach big snow event threatening to develop Tuesday night thru the end of next week. We’ll see if March lives up to its reputation.
