MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 1030 Sunday

The Snapshot:  POWDER DAY!  The snow will continue to fall for the next few days.   

The Science:  The low-pressure trough that brought us the nice snow today will slowly track east during the next 24hrs.  A nice fetch of moisture has been entrained which result in consistent snow fall.  Westerly flow will keep the snow machine cranking into Tuesday with good Convergence Zone orographics likely.

The Long Range:   Another strong frontal system will lift north late Wednesday night with heavy precipitation and 4-5000’ freezing levels setting up for Thursday and Friday. 

Precipitation Ending at 4am:
Today 24hr water = +- .75  Snow = 6-10
Tomorrow’s 24hr water =  + .75 snow = 6-10

Trend and Timing:
Snow will continue to fall for the next 24-36hrs. 


24hr temperature ending at 4 am tomorrow: 
Low:  19   High: 26
Freezing level: 2500 -3000’ – 2000’

Trend and Timing:   
Freezing level will bump up a bit this afternoon and then fall to below 2000’ by early tomorrow morning.

 
24hr Winds (mph) ending at 4 am tomorrow:
Base:  0-5 E
Ridge Top: 5-10 WSW

Trend and Timing:
 Weak east flow at the surface will slowly shift westerly over the next 24hrs.
