Time and Day: 0630
Friday
Note: The Pass is closed at the moment with
hopes of opening for night skiing.
The Snapshot: Mixed rain and snow will be the weather game
through the weekend. Warmer temps with rain expected for the first half of the
new week.
The Science: 7” of snow was swallowed up by 1.55” of rain
last night as the low-pressure system
moved into southern BC. Left behind are gusty westerly winds, temperatures around 320f
and mixed rain and snow.
The precipitation
will diminish later today as a weak high pressure ridge ahead of the next frontal
system develops. The high pressure ridge
will allow a bit of cooling tonight, but that will be short-lived as the next warm front pushes freezing levels back up
tomorrow afternoon. Freezing levels will
bounce between 4000’ and 5000’ as this next
system moves in; therefore, expect a similar event tomorrow; snow
changing to rain.
The Long Range: Next
week will start out rainy with another storm on Monday and then again on
Wednesday. Freezing levels will be
6-7000’ for the first half of the week.
