MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700 Tuesday

The Snapshot:    Yep, more rain today.  Snow is on the horizon.

The Science:  1.14” of rain fell yesterday with more on the way.   This morning’s satellite radar has a long string of moisture stretching out to the south and heading straight into the PNW Mountains.  Surface temperatures will rise a few degrees warmer today with freezing levels peaking near 7000’.

There is a cold front on the way to save the day tomorrow.  Temperatures will begin to fall tomorrow morning with mixed rain and snow around noon and then snow in the base area sometime around sunset. 

The Long Range:  Snow showers end on Thursday with most of Friday being dry with some sun breaks.  Another warm front with rising freezing levels and more rain enters the region on Saturday.   High pressure begins to build on Sunday with the PNW drying out during the first half of next week.

Today 24hr water = 1-1.25 snow = 0
Tomorrow’s 24hr water = .75-1  snow = 2-5

Trend and Timing:
Moderate to heavy rain continues through noon tomorrow. The rain slowly transitions to snow showers tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Freezing level: 7000’ – 5500’

Trend and Timing:   
Freezing levels will peak near 7000’ today and then begin to fall after 7 am tomorrow.   Freezing levels are expected to drop below 4000’ by midnight tomorrow.

Trend and Timing:
Light generally west winds with some gusty periods possible will continue through most of the week.
