Time and Day: 0800 Thursday
The Snapshot: Light snow today. Tomorrow will be mostly dry with a few mixed
rain and snow showers possible. The next
storm comes in on Sunday.
The Science
Current Observations:
1-2” of snow fell overnight, it
is lightly snowing with broken layered clouds, the temperature is 300f,
the Rh is 90%, the barometer is 1005mb and falling, the
winds are light and out of the east.
The low-pressure cell, that has parked itself off
of the PNW coast, will spin an occluded front through the region over the next
24hrs. Bands of moisture being pushed
out ahead of the front will keep light snow
falling for the remainder of the day. Once
the front heads into the interior west late tonight, the flow will shift
southwesterly and a weak high pressure ridge will begin to form. Thus, tomorrow and Saturday will be mostly dry
with some clear periods.
The Long Range:
The next storm of interest
enters the scene late Saturday with mixed rain and snow expected into Sunday. Freezing levels will be 5000’ on Sunday with
cooler air and snow expected for most of next week.
