Time and Day: 0200
Sunday
A progressive weather pattern
is beginning to enter the PNW with heavy precipitation, high winds and 4-5000’
freezing levels expected through the middle of next week.
Now:
A frontal system is
currently moving onshore with moderate to heavy rain pounding the coast. Just a few isolated showers are making it to
the mountains thus far. The precipitation
is being pulled in from the SW which will place the freezing levels around the 4700’
mark through the night.
Weak ESE flow will try its
best to keep most of the precipitation in the form of snow. The east flow isn’t that strong and more out
of the southeast than the east, so time will tell. Cooler
air aloft is expected to move in tomorrow morning which will aid in the snow favoritism.
The winds will show up
tomorrow afternoon (4 pm ish) as the next
trough prepares to enter the mountains.
Models have the 5000’ winds in excess of 40knots.
The pattern remains progressive
with the biggest portion of precipitation happening on Tuesday and
Wednesday.
Storm totals:
Water by 4pm Monday = .25-.5 Snow = 2-4”
Water by 4pm Tuesday =.5-.75 Snow = 3-6”
Water by 4pm Wednesday = 1-2” Snow
– 7-12”
The Long Range: Because it is still mid-November we should expect the freezing levels to rise at some point.
This will be the case heading into next
weekend. Long range models have the
freezing levels peaking near 8000’ on Sunday/ Monday. This is a loooong
ways out, so in the meantime, enjoy the early
season snow.
