Snow through Sunday morning. Sunshine and
cooler weather finish out the
weekend. Dry and warmer weather moves in on Monday.
The Science
Current Observations:
It is clear with a
temperature of 300f . 5” of new snow fell, mostly during the day
yesterday. The RH is 93% and the
barometer is 1015mb and falling. The
wind is light and out of the west.
The Forecast:
The next 2 rounds of
moisture are the way. Flurries
of the first wave should show up this morning with the main bulk of moisture
arriving this afternoon. The next,
slightly more potent storm moves through tomorrow with additional accumulative
snow likely. This weather event is being
driven by a low-pressure cell tracking in
from the Gulf of Alaska. Freezing levels
are expected to hold at or just below 4000’ today and then begin to fall
tonight.
The snow, with falling temperatures, will continue into early Sunday
morning and them come to an end. Snow totals by 4 am Sunday morning could exceed 15”.
The Long Range:
A strong high pressure system is
expected to bring a prolonged dry period starting on Sunday and lasting through
most of next week. Cold air sinking in
from the north on Sunday will provide a few days of low temperatures. Freezing levels slowly rise next week with unseasonably
mild temperatures rounding out the week.
