Time and Day: 0700 Monday
The Snapshot:
Cold with surface fog today. Continued dry with broken clouds and warmer temperatures will continue through Thursday. Change begins on Friday.
The Science
Current Observations: It is foggy this morning with temperatures in the
teens. The RH is 93% and the barometer
is 1028mb and starting to fall. The
easterly winds are gusting at 10-15mph.
The Forecast:
The inversion layer is expected to weaken
over the next 24hrs. If this materializes,
warm air advection from the southwest will begin to erode the cold air trapped
in the eastern basin. This could push out the inversion temperatures and the low
elevation cloud layer. Mixed clouds with
sun breaks move in tomorrow as a weak system brushes up against the coast.
The falling barometer is
an early indication of the high-pressure beginning to weakening. However, the high pressure will remain stubborn for
most of the week which will keep the region mostly dry, partially clear and
warmer.
The Long Range:
Finally, the northern jet stream makes a
run at the PNW starting on Friday. Long
range models have snow moving in on Friday with more storms for the weekend.
