Time and Day: 0700 Tuesday
The Snapshot:
Burr!  These inversion conditions will
continue with some clearing in the base area today.
Change is still expected by the end of
the week.
The Science
Current Observations:
It’s a brisk 12 degrees this
morning with dense fog in the base area. The upper mountain is a balmy 41
degrees and clear. The RH is 92% with the barometer holding steady at 1028mb’s.  The 5000’ winds have switched to westerly with warm air pushing in from the southwest.
The Forecast: The
cold east inversion flow will intensify this
morning as the temperature gradients strengthen.  Hence the extreme temperature spread.  The east/west battle will continue through at
least Thursday.  Base area clouds are
likely to burn off through the day with the mixing of the warmer air aloft.
The Long Range:  Eyes are still on the change expected on
Friday.  Snow begins on Friday with more systems
expected over the weekend.  It is still a bit early to get wrapped up in the details, so stay tuned.
