MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700 Saturday

The Snapshot: The upside-down world continues.

The Science

Current Observations: The base area is foggy and cold (170f ) while the ridge tops are clear with temperatures in the mid 30’s.  The inversion layer being pulled through the Pass has the R. Humidity at 94%.  The barometer remains high and steady at 1030mb.  The winds are easterly 5-10mph.

The Forecast:
High cirrus clouds will move in today as an offshore low-pressure system pushes up against the high pressure ridge.  Strong offshore flow along with the dome of high-pressure will hold off the moisture at least through the middle of next week.

The Long Range: The good news. The systems out in the Pacific are beginning to weaken the high pressure ridge.  Both the ECMWF and the GFS models have a shift in the pattern beginning next week with potential precipitation by the weekend.
