THE MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0630 Wednesday

The Snapshot: Sunshine and warmer temperatures will remain in effect.

The Science

Current Observations:
The stars are shining bright this morning over Stevens Pass.  The temperature is 33f degrees on the upper mountain and 27f degrees in the base area. The RH is 86% and the barometer is peaking at 1034mb’s.  The winds are blowing 5-10mph from the ENE.

The Forecast:
With the aid of the sun, the temperatures peaked at 380f  at 5200’  and 340f  at 4000’ yesterday.  That scenario will repeat itself today and then bump up a degree or two tomorrow.  The cold air trapped in the eastern basin is slowly being eroded as the warm southerly flow aloft makes it way up the eastern slopes.  Therefore expect this clear weather with gradually warming temperatures to continue.

The Long Range:  The long range models have no end to the blocking ridge of high pressure - L   Daytime temperature could reach into the mid 40’s or even 50f over the weekend.
