MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day:  0800 Monday

The Snapshot:   Welcome 2018,  may you be filled with deep light powder.

It will be mostly dry today with base area fog.  You may have to go to the upper mountain if you are in need of sun.  These dry conditions will continue through Thursday with light mixed rain and snow expected Friday/ Saturday.

The Science

Current Observations: It is clear on the upper mountain with fog at Pass level.  The base temperature is 16of, the RH is 94% and the barometer is holding steady at 1023mb’s.  Satellite imagery has a low level stratus cloud layer nestled up against the east slopes of the Cascades and clear skies to the west.

The Forecast:  While a dome of high pressure brings sunshine and warm temperatures to western Washington, the all too familiarly inversion layer has formed in the eastern basin.  The inversion feature will likely continue through most of the week.

The Long Range:  The change begins late Thursday with mixed rain and snow possible on Friday.  A more progressive weather pattern is expected for the weekend.
