Time and Day: 0715 Saturday
The Snapshot: Light snow showers at cool temperatures today,
moderate snow Sunday and Monday.
Current Observations: 5”
of light snow overnight with very little wind. Temperatures are in the mid 20’s
across the mountain. The barometer is slowly rising and the RH is in the mid 90’s.
The Science: A weak trough moved across the
region overnight continuing the trend of a few inches at a time for Stevens
Pass. Weak high pressure will move across Washington today and tonight, with a
stronger frontal system and associated trough staged to affect the PNW on
Sunday and Monday. There will be a brief rise in freezing levels Sunday
morning, but overall they should remain well below Pass level. After the
frontal passage on Sunday the trough opens the door to upper level westerly
flow on Monday for continued snow.
The Long Range: Tuesday looks relatively benign, with light snow at
continued seasonal freezing levels. A stronger system arrives Wednesday with
warmer temperatures, but don’t fret, this currently looks like a snow event for
Stevens Pass. Active weather continues through the week.
