MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0700 Friday

The Snapshot:  Light snow tapering off this morning with a clearing and cooling trend beginning.  The sun makes an appearance tomorrow with light snow expected on Sunday.  

The Science

Current Observations:  Freezing levels finally dropped below 4000’ around 8:00 pm last night.  .7” of rain fell yesterday with an inch of snow left over this morning.  The barometer is 1018mb’s and starting to climb.  The ridge top winds are blowing from the west 10-20mph.  The temperature profile is 24 ridges / 29 base.  The satellite radar has few showers left in the convergence zone but dissipating.

The Forecast:  There will be a lot of quick changes in the weather pattern over the next 3-5 days.  Cold dry northerly flow takes over today with a high pressure ridge brushing the region tomorrow.  A low-pressure cell will the then drop in from the north on Sunday for the chance of some snow.   
   
The Long Range:  Next week will start out dry with a winter storm taking shape for the middle of next week.
